CORRECTION OF MASSES

2:55 AM Edit This 0 Comments »
Mendeleef corrected the atomic masses of certain elements on he basis of their properties and allocated proper aces to them in the periodic table.
 Example

The atomic mass of indium was wrongly calculated to 76. Indium should have been placed after arsenic (atomic ass 75) in group VI. Mendeleef suggested the formula of indium oxide as In2O3 instead of InO and from its valency determined its correct atomic mass to be 113 instead of 76. Later on indium got the proper place in the periodic table in Group III after cadmium whose atomic mass is 112.
